Costume/Props Planning and ideas

For my models i am going to use Nikki Westwood and Sumaiya Bashir. One being of christian religion and the other Asian. The costumes used are going to be the latest fashion, new clothes. This is to attract my target audience. 

My models will be wearing, either a skirt or dress, with an exception of trousers/jeans with boots, as it will look formal and appeal to my audience, if I am to use a long shot for a double page spread. Also the color usage will be not to bright, nude colors to attract customers as the latest fashions will catch the attention of my target audience. 
My season will be based around latest in winter clothes, but let to come Summer cloths too/ Sneak peak to the trending summer upcoming collections. As young teen girls are driven by fashion, I will add this to relate to the pop music magazine, and link my costumes to the way pop celebrities dress. 

 

Location/ Camera Research and ideas

I have used power point to outline roughly my ideas of how I am going to take my picture and where I will set the setting. 
I am going to use female models for my magazine, and chose my picture wisely depending on where I will put them, E.g, double page/ front cover. 

Makeup Research and ideas

Makeup Research and ideas for my front cover on my pop magazine. This is going to help me decide what types of colors to use when doing the makeup of my models, to fit the purpose of attracting my target audience which are teenage girls, in between the age group of 11 to 17.

Photo Planning

Here are examples from other pop magazines, of celebrities who were used to attract customers. I am hoping to get images like these for my music magazine too, as this will make the magazine look very professional and readers will want to buy the magazine more often as they would be attracted by the front cover. 

The main images: 

• Have a certain impression on their faces expressing feelings. Mostly: Happiness/ Being joyful
• Some body language suggests a action to do with what the magazine specializes in that specific article- to catch the readers attention.
• Lighting is bright- looking attractive
• Some shots are close ups/ Medium long shots
• close ups showing facial expression only
• medium shots showing body language/ Body at certain angle/ doing a action
• Makeup- Done very flawlessly/ Photo being edited adding brightness, and blemishing anything unattractive on the image
• Colours are used in the picture, as they are edited into different types of styles
• Smiles to attract customers- Creating happy/ positive atmosphere
• Angles are bodies are sometimes slightly slanted, showing the side of and artists face

When taking my picture for my magazine I am going to use stage lighting to make the image result in looking likes its done professionally. I am also going to use hair and makeup, with my models to make them look more attractive, and pretty. This way the magazine will reach my audience quicker.

Magazine Treatment

This is my magazine Treatment, in other words, a summary of what my magazine is going to include and who it is aimed at. Also it gives a brief introduction into what kind of stuff will be involved in making the magazine, such as color schemes. 

Contents Page Mockups

 

These are my contents page mock up, which I have hand-drawn, and used the house style of the colors pink and purple. 

I have added images of famous pop celebrities in my plan, and pull quotes to interest the reader. 

The advertisement I have added in the contents page is by using a banner, this would attract the readers attention quicker than just having a box with information in it. 

The background for my designs are going to have a house styles pattern to the pages. 

I have given some examples of title pages in my music magazine, and have made reference to page numbers which are after every double page spread. 

Front Cover Mock-ups

These are my front cover Hand-drawn designs.I have used an outline of a woman which is what i plan to use on my original magazine. This is because my pop magazine is aimed at teenage girls, so they will get attracted quicker. The colors mostly used are,pinks and purple as it's a girly theme.I have added advertisement in the corners of the pages to attract my target audience. My audience is mass audience as it is a large portion.

Evaluation feedback

This is my evaluation feedback I received on my research of the school magazines. 

I will continue to make improvements to my work and compete any uncompleted tasks. 

Beauty of pop masthead

The following mastheads shown are idea I got from the internet on a font maker site called Cool text font.

I have chosen thee types because they are girly and unique, and would fit well in my music magazine.

These are my three hand-drawn designs of the masthead to my pop music magazine

I have annotated some color suggestions of what type of color scheme I will be using in my magazine.

The different styles have a unique font but all have the same theme of linking back to the girly theme, so the magazine will easily attract teenage girls(The target audience) . 

House Style Ideas For My Music Magazine

Masthead ideas 

I have used a site called "cool text graphics", to generate my text into different fonts styles, which I could use on the front cover of my music  magazine. The usage of the colour pink could be reused all around the page to make my own house styles.The bottom font is the font I have chosen to use for my magazine. 

Different names for the pop music magazine:

- Pop Party                      -La pop

-Party People                  - Beauty and pop

-Just POP!                       - Beauty Of pop 

-Pop hits                         - Now music

-Simple Pop                     -Teen pop

The color scheme around the page: 

The color schemes I could use for my magazine could be one out of the following. Pinks could be a common color due to the target audience being teenage girls who stereotypical have a favoritism of the color pink or purple. 

I could use a bright and bold type of pinks, which stand out. Alongside purples and different tones of bright pink. 

These types of pinks could also be a option, however this choice is mostly based on having a lighter and girlish pink, light pinks and grey. Also a touch of purple to the house style. 

 This could also be a options, which uses more lighter colors, which are not very bright

House style "top of the pops"

"Top of the pops" magazine house style

This blog shows a pop magazine called "Top of the pops", which demonstrates a usage of house style. House style is when the audience is aware of a common feature of the magazine, Whether the house style on each of the front covers, or on every page of the magazine. Usually the layout of the page demonstrates a house styles so the audience is aware that a house style is noticed. 

As seen on the "top of the pops magazine",the following images include  a color scheme used of each magazine cover. The first two magazines above both have the same title with different colors, this could also be spotted to be a house style as it is a key feature. The colors are usually two different, or 3.

I used google slides to present my research into the Pop genre and where it originated from. I have evaluated  some of the main features used in the WE LOVE POP magazine, which catches attention of teen girls.

Evaluation video

What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

This is a short video, i tested to experiment with different media uses. I used a software called "Slides". This software is useful because I was able to add images and change the font styles and colours. Whilst making my final cover for the school magazine I learnt how to do different things in , such as adding shadows to the images or text. Also how to blur something out slightly to give an effect. I also learn how to do the simple things such as adding images.

EVALUATION

1. Who would be the audience for your media product? 
2. How did you attract/address your audience? 

The bold Masthead is convention for a magazine to appealing to the audience , this will also helps the Masthead stand out more, and look more eye-catching.  This is expected to appear on the top of the front page due to informing the audiences as soon as they look at the masthead, about what the genre the magazine is. I used a layout to set out the way my magazine cover is presented, however I changed a few things such as, putting cover lines in the spaces mini images should be, this is because the magazine then gives away more information about what inside the magazine. I also decided to change to image of the cover, as the current image has more of a background to it which makes the front cover appealing. I have used to colors red and black, because its the color scheme for the school and therefore fits in with the theme of magazine. 

The front cover features main image, and cover lines based around one side of the page. 
The audience for my media product would be the students who go to Plantsbrook school. This is because it provides information about activities that run in the school, also gives away advice. I attract my audience by using bright colors in the title, and cover lines. This would attract audience because they the viewer will not get bored, as its colorful, but also linked to the school theme, as red, black and white is used quite a lot. To avoid confusion between my anchorage and cover line, I changed the sizing of my text, some being smaller and other larger. My final magazine challenges the convention of the text font has to be formal. I choose to do informal because it would attract my audience more. 

Feedback

This feedback sheet shows what my teacher thinks about blog, also it gives me things to improve on, and picks out the things that I have done well. At the bottom, I have set myself some targets about how I could make my blog better.
